Cleanups are recorded, and each one can be put back from the My Activity screen as long as the Trash has not been emptied. Permanent deletion is a setting you have to turn on.

Idle, the app uses about 1% CPU and around 45 MB of memory. Expensive readings — per-process tables, GPU, temperature sensors, power meter — are only sampled while the screen that shows them is open.

How long will it last if you unplug now?
The battery gauge goes quiet the moment the adapter is connected, so RacClean reads the whole-system power meter instead. That makes the question answerable before the cable comes out.
- Health, cycle count, condition, pack temperature, adapter wattage
- Hours left at the current draw — a measured figure, with the three apps driving it
- Hours by activity: idle, reading, music, browsing, video, video calls, coding, photo editing, video editing, gaming — with the apps you have open right now marked on the rows they belong to

Tools/Compare Folders
Is the backup drive really complete?
Point it at a folder on your Mac and one on an external drive. It tells you what matches, what differs, what exists on one side only, and which side is newer.
- Fast mode compares size and date; deep mode compares SHA-256 hashes
- One-second timestamp tolerance so FAT and exFAT drives do not show false differences

Dashboard

System Junk
Caches, logs, developer and package-manager junk, mail attachments, old downloads, device backups and the Trash, each row labelled Safe, Review or Impact. Per-app cache clearing for individual apps, the way a phone's storage screen works.
Apps
Every installed app with its real size, its caches, support data, web data, logs and saved state. Uninstall an app together with its files, and find leftovers from apps that are already gone — only reported when Launch Services cannot find the app anywhere and nothing has touched the folder in six months.
Large & Old Files
Files above a size you choose, filtered by age and by when they were last opened (from Spotlight metadata), scoped to any folder through the native folder picker.
Duplicates
Byte-identical files found by size grouping then streamed SHA-256 hashing, and similar photos found by perceptual hashing so a re-export or a resized copy is caught too. The newest copy is suggested to keep.
Space Lens
A squarified treemap of the disk. Click to drill into any folder; a list beside the map shows the same data as numbers.
Compare Folders
Mac against an external drive: identical, different, only on one side, and which side is newer. Fast or deep comparison.
AI Files
What Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity, Gemini, Copilot, Ollama and other AI tools keep on the Mac, split into work worth keeping and caches worth reclaiming, plus the list of projects those tools have worked in.
Performance
Per-core CPU, memory, GPU, network, temperature, load average, uptime and thermal state, with process tables, clickable detail views, a speed test, and a "Speed things up" panel that only makes suggestions when readings justify them.
Battery
Health and cycles, whole-system power draw even when plugged in, hours left at the current draw, hours by activity, and energy per process.
Startup Items
Login items, launch agents and daemons across user and system scopes, with entries that point at deleted programs flagged for removal.
Protection
Real checks with real answers: System Integrity Protection, Gatekeeper, FileVault, firewall, XProtect definition age, pending software updates, remote-access services listening, the hosts file, unsigned or untrusted app signatures, startup item signatures, and browser extensions. Each finding links to the System Settings pane that fixes it. This is a posture check, not an antivirus.
AI Assistant
A chat with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or DeepSeek using your own API key, stored in the Keychain. Attach any scan's results as context, see the exact payload before it is sent, choose detailed or anonymised paths, and watch the answer stream in. Available as a side panel from any screen.
My Activity
Every cleanup, when it ran, what it removed and how much it freed, with a 30-day chart and a per-tool breakdown. Restore any cleanup's files from the Trash with one click.
Settings
Thai or English, Trash or permanent deletion, menu bar item and its metrics, appearance, folder exclusions, network units, low-space notifications and scheduled scans, open at login with a menu-bar-only start, and AI provider keys.
Two kinds of files, one line between them.
A rule enforced in code and covered by tests: nothing an assistant produced can arrive pre-selected, no matter what a rule says.
Project discovery does not decode folder names — a hyphen in a folder name is indistinguishable from a path separator — it reads the working directory each transcript recorded.
Archive copies; it never moves. A failed archive leaves the originals exactly where they were.

RacClean is not an antivirus and does not remove malware. It reports whether macOS’s own protections are on and up to date.

A few things you might be wondering.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no trial, no paid tier and nothing unlocks with a purchase.
Why does macOS warn me when I open it?
Because RacClean is not signed with an Apple Developer ID. Open System Settings, choose Privacy & Security, scroll down and click "Open Anyway". You only do this once per version. Full instructions on the How to open page. How to open
Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?
Mail attachments, Safari data, Messages and Time Machine folders are protected by macOS and cannot be measured without it. You can decline; those categories will simply be missing.
Does anything leave my Mac?
Scans, cleanups and monitoring are entirely local. The only network use is the optional speed test (it downloads and uploads random bytes from Cloudflare) and the AI assistant, which sends only what you explicitly attach, after you have seen it, to the provider you chose with your own key.
What happens to deleted files?
They go to the Trash and the cleanup is recorded. You can put everything back from My Activity until you empty the Trash. Permanent deletion is off by default.
Will it slow my Mac down?
Idle, about 1% of one CPU core and around 45 MB of memory. Heavy readings are only taken while the screen showing them is open, and the menu bar refresh slows down when the app is in the background.
